About the Department
The Department of Studies and Planning is a leading and distinguished department in the fields of planning, strategic planning, statistics, and information systems, in line with the university’s vision, mission, and objectives.
The department consists of four divisions (the Studies and Planning Division, the Statistics Division, the Data and Informatics Division, and the Academic Systems Division), in addition to the administrative unit. It aims to provide statistical data and information on the university’s overall activities by adopting modern and systematic planning methods and programs, as well as preparing studies that contribute to the development of the university and the enhancement of its academic and administrative performance.
The department is committed to preparing annual and quarterly statistical reports that support decision-makers at the university by identifying the needs for academic, administrative, and technical staff, as well as handling all matters related to the establishment of new units and university formations.

Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the Department of Studies and Planning:
Vision:
The vision is to strive diligently to enhance the performance of the university (colleges, centers, departments, divisions, and administrative units) in order to achieve the highest levels of development. The Department of Studies and Planning is responsible for preparing and monitoring the implementation of the university’s plans, statistical data, and database updates across all its formations, by adopting modern, systematic planning schedules and programs based on well-defined standards, aimed at improving and activating work procedures in all fields.
Mission:
The Department of Studies and Planning seeks to develop and enhance the performance of all university formations across all administrative levels, starting from the University Presidency and college deanships down to the lowest administrative level within the organizational structure.
Objectives :
- Contributing to the development of short-term and long-term strategic plans to achieve the university’s objectives with the least effort and in the shortest time possible.
- Defining the objectives to be achieved by the university in general, and by its formations in particular.
- Establishing academic and administrative units to supply the labor market with new competencies that contribute to the country’s progress and development.
- Developing a comprehensive database that includes all information of the university staff members.
Below is a brief overview of the department’s divisions.
- Planning Division
Established in 2003 within the structure of the Department of Studies and Planning, the Planning Division was created to meet the university’s need for a specialized unit responsible for developing strategies, setting goals, and preparing future plans, including short- and long-term plans to achieve the university’s objectives and monitoring their implementation. It is also responsible for formulating policies and strategies aligned with the university’s mission, as well as proposing the establishment of colleges and academic departments. In addition, the division prepares the university’s annual organizational structure and its formations, and conducts field inspections of newly established sites such as laboratories, divisions, and administrative units within the university’s structures.
2. Statistics Division
The Statistics Division was established under University Order No. (T M/7/189) in 2012. It is responsible for carrying out tasks related to the preparation of statistical data and reports for undergraduate and postgraduate students, in addition to various university activities. It also works on entering and processing the admission plan system data for undergraduate studies and approving it. Furthermore, the division is responsible for implementing the system for uploading university orders related to the medical and allied health group, as well as verifying and electronically validating the entered data and ensuring its approval.
- Data and Informatics Division
The Data and Informatics Division in Iraqi universities is considered an important part of the administrative and technical structure within the university. It is concerned with collecting, organizing, analyzing, and updating the necessary data and information required for decision-making and planning.
- Academic Systems Division
The Academic Systems Division in Iraqi colleges and universities is responsible for the administrative and academic follow-up and implementation of educational systems (semester system, annual system, course system, and Bologna track), ensuring the smooth flow of the educational process.
- Administrative Unit
In view of the expansion of the department, its divisions, and responsibilities, the Administrative Unit was established in 2019 due to the urgent need to complete work requirements, continuously monitor personnel records, receive daily correspondence, electronically archive it, and store it in classified and well-organized files after processing.
